A little more about me

I am an independent Webflow Designer and Brand Designer living by the sea in sunny Cornwall with over 25 years industry experience.

Designing websites and brands since 1997

I have worked as a graphic and digital designer for over 25 years. With a clean design style I have a passion for branding and Webflow design and development and love nothing more than to transform a new or existing business into a successful brand both offline and online.

I designed and coded my first website in 1997, worked through the .com bubble in the 90’s and during my career I have built, managed and led large teams of designers and developers on bespoke web projects and applications for startup’s, SME’s and blue chip clients in the UK, Europe and Internationally.

‍

I have worked as an in-house designer within various multi-national organisations, design agencies and as a business owner. I now work with a varied range of clients and design studios providing senior level graphic design support and bespoke Webflow design and development.

With all this experience I love to share my knowledge and teach new and young designers on Superprof the business side of graphic design, branding and Webflow design and development. I am also preparing various Skillshare courses for release soon.

SneddonClark

Based in Cornwall, SneddonClark approached me to design and build their new website. Their existing website was built on the WordPress platform however it was outdated and slow.

‍

The new website required a complete overhaul both in terms of design and content. Interactive visuals were developed in Figma ahead of the site build so that SneddonClark could visualise the new site. Although the logo remained, the brand design was developed to align with their target audience. Once approved, I began building the site in Webflow includeding a custom CMS Collections and the final site was optimised for search engines.

I have worked closely with the marketing team at Digiterre to provide a vast array of marketing material from case studies and technical marketing material, exhibition graphics and panels, static, animated and video social media content and recently a realignment of their branding.

Cornish Wedding Barn

Based near St Just in Cornwall, The Cornish Wedding Barn required a new website and brand to help promote the wedding barn. I first started with the brand design that echos the characteristics of the barn which was bo-ho and rustic. Because the wedding barn is located on a working farm it was also important that this was conveyed in the brand design. Working with my wife, Sarah, who is an illustrator, a series of hand drawn illustrations of farm animals and wedding barn features where developed to tie the whole brand design.

The new bespoke website was built in Webflow and features a walk-through video, detailed information on each of the wedding packages and a dynamic budget calculator developed in Jotform and integration of Calendry and Google Calendar for booking visits.

M&I Materials Ltd are based in Manchester with offices worldwide. They are dedicated to manufacturing Specialist Materials for Industry and Science and is the driving force behind a portfolio of successful business lines including Apiezon, Metrosil, Performance Biolubricants and Wolfmet. Over the years I have worked with M&I Materials and produced a range of multilingual technical marketing material from brochures and catalogues to event graphics and case studies.

Based in Manchester, the QURE Group underwent a re-brand and required a new site build based on designs produced by a design agency. The designs were provided as Photoshop files and after a few tweaks to the H1, H2, H3 hierarchy and UI sizing I built the site using various CMS Collections, making good use of Webflows Multi-Reference fields. A second site was also required for a sub brand so a clone of the QURE site was made in Webflow, making the launch of the second site a breeze.

Based in Penzance, Stacey Mann Estates previous website was built on the WordPress platform and over the years it became too big, the site was slow to load and overall it was difficult for the end user to use. I rebuilt the website in Webflow and to help increase load times I developed CMS collections with multi-reference fields so that image paths could be copied in from Rightmove.

Based in Manchester, J.Osborne specialise in health and safety in the workplace and employment law. Their old site was a WordPress website which was looking a little dated and hard to maintain. The new site was redesigned in Figma and built in Webflow. It is an informative website but features a secure members only area where registered clients can login and download a vast range of employment law documents. This was achieved by using Webflows built-in Users functionality.

Falmouth based Liebowitz & Partners required a new website to promote their new EXO151 Yacht. they had previously had a WordPress website but struggled to manage constant WordPress theme and plugins and felt that WordPress was slow and felt old.

I introduced them to Webflow and they instantly knew it was the right CMS and platform to promote their new EXO151 Yacht. Big imagery and animation was used throughout the website to help tell the story of the new yacht and to position the website at the high end ship builders.

There's so many questions when starting a project, lets see if I can cover the main ones here.

Q - How much does a Webflow website cost?

The cost of a Webflow website can vary dramatically based on various requirements such as how many pages you require, the complexity of the website, whether you need branding, additional graphic design support, and if you need integrations such as MailChimp, HubSpot etc... Also worth considering is how advanced you would like interactivity and animations on your website. As you can see there are many variables regarding a website so its difficult to place a fixed price on a website. As a guide however, on a typical website engagement starts at £5K for Webflow design and development. If you already have a design and just need the site building then the cost will be below this figure. Also if you only require a landing page, this too will be below £5K.

Q - How long does it take to build a Webflow website

Again this is based on the design and complexity of your website, however an average website can take be between 3 and 6 weeks.

Q -What is Webflow?

Webflow is a modern web development platform that provides an easy to use Editor for businesses to manage their website yet a powerful Content Management System (or Collections as they are called in Webflow), which can be configured for virtually any dynamic content. Unlike a lot of other popular website platforms, Webflow is built in such a way that it allows you complete control over the design and functionality of your website. Webflow websites are hosted on super fast and secure Amazon Servers which means they load instantly, they are extremely secure and rank highly on Google due to its built in SEO features. Unlike WordPress, Webflow does not reply on external plugins or themes and writes clean code and is free from Malware and other security issues, meaning there are no monthly updates unlike WordPress and its Themes and Plugins.

Q - I have a WordPress website, can you migrate it to Webflow?

Absolutely, I can migrate your website from WordPress or any other platform including Squarespace, Wix etc... to Webflow.

Q - Why do you use Webflow and not WordPress?

For many years I used WordPress, however in 2022 I moved to Webflow as my preferred web development platform. My clients love Webflow because of how fast their websites load, SEO and ease of use. Webflow is not a drag and drop site builder, it is a powerful modern development platform which provides granular control over the design of your site and functionality, something that most other platforms can not offer.

Q - Is Webflow more expensive than WordPress?

Based on years of experience and 100’s of websites under my belt, Webflow is not only cheaper to develop a website than WordPress, there are no ongoing costs such as plugin and theme updates, security software, SSL’s, expensive hosting or monthly maintenance support. Webflow on the other hand takes care of everything at a competive price.

Q - I want a WordPress website, can you help?

Unfortunately not, I am a dedicated Webflow designer and developer and have chosen Webflow due to its's advance and modern web development features which out shine WordPress on many fronts. If you still think WordPress is the way to go, lets have a chat to discuss your project and to see if Webflow is a good fit for your requirements, more often than not it is the ideal solution.

Q - Do you offer support once my website is live?

Absolutely, once your website is live I am always on hand for future updates or if you prefer we can arrange a monthly retainer to manage your website. Once your website is live I always provide training on how to update content on your website via a video meeting. Don't worry if you forget anything we cover in the meeting, I am once email or call away to give you a refresher,

Q - What other services do you provide?

I can also help with branding, graphic design, SEO and video editing.

Q - Will I own the website once it is live?

Yes, I believe in clients taking full ownership of their website under their own Webflow account. This makes it easier for you to manage your own Webflow subscription. Once final payment has been made you will own the site.

Q - Why should I choose you over an agency?

With over 20 years experience you are in safe hands. I have worked as an in-house designer, within multiple studios and as a studio owner. There are two main reasons why working with me over a studio is better for you. Due to my overheads I can complete the same project at a more competitive price. Secondly, you will be working with me directly so no need to go through a project manager which speeds up the process. I do not outsource any of the work which also means I can maintain the highest quality of work. Many agencies actually outsource Webflow work.
